As you all know, I like to peruse YouTube for short indie horror films to review. This week, I took a look at the three and a half minute film, False Awakening.
What’s it about?
A young boy is stuck waking up and reliving his morning over and over. In each awakening, something changes. Eventually, the boy is plagued with horrifying images. Will he wake up from his nightmare world?
What did I think?
For a three minute film, it is rather well done. The young boy has no lines, but he is believable as he walks though his nightmares. He takes on a demeanor of walking through a haze until he sees the first disturbing image, then he is scared into awareness.
The ending is left open to the audience’s imagination, which I love. If you watch it yourself, be sure to tell us in the comments below what you think happened!
I wish that the name of the boy was in the credits. I have a feeling I know who it is, but I can’t be sure. He’s not under a heading titled “starring,” even though he starred in the film, so I’m left confused on that end.
Do I recommend it?
Yes, go and take a look at it. It’s short, sweet and creates an immense amount of suspense.
You can watch it here.
If you guys are up to some bad B rate 70s movies on black exploitation recommend Blacula.
Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll definitely look into it.
